THE FADED LIGHT

                                     The Faded Light

Trudging on the solitary street,
the unheard was  heard with my feet.

With heavy legs and crippled heart
                 surpassing every dwelling curiously,
wanting to encroach into their garth
                 staring through the crevices randomly.

There came the first square
wrapped in the silence of nocturne,
all the daylight colourful attire
                  are imbibed in deadly mourn.

The squealing horns and squeaking brake,
fell asleep with the vendor's hoot.
The only teashop beside the track,
gave some thrill to the insomniac coot.

There came the second square
as calm as the sea moon,
the great man's statue amid the bar
could inspire me but my apathy won.

The trafficman dozing showed his tenacity,
with the three lights seemed to leer at him.
The few wheelers far away from perspicacity,
awaiting the signal to be again green in grim.

The whole street looked deadly blank,
but the pavements were full of life.
beggars and beasts laid down on plank,
feeling safe as being nature's wife.

Exhausted, aimless I retreated felling,
the same tea stall and the same slight.
passing the squares I halted at dwellings,
spellbound by a damsel dangling faded in light.

Unaware of the time, world and life,
she looked cadaverous lost in he eyes.
Even in the dark she had a darker plight ,
I admired her beauty without any lies.

Then I felt my wrist soaked with cold spear,
                    my heart panged
why were she sobbing, why were those tears?????????
